- The town is predominantly white and Christian or Catholic. Almost
everyone in town goes to one of the two churches.
- There are other faiths in Albion, but too small to start a church
of their own. The town has Muslim, Hindu, and Shinto, as well as Buddhist practitioners. Also present are Native faiths and
Santeria specialists.
- Sightings of the Blessed Virgins have increased, each time bringing
a dire warning or bizarre instructions.
- Outside town, above even the White Cliffs, is a cave, carved by
hand into the mountainside. In this cave resides a figure called the Prophet. He is rumored to be a survivor from Old Albion,
a hermit even then who the black riders missed. Many go seeking him for his purported wisdom, but few have actually seen him.
- There is a curfew. It’s unofficial, but strictly enforced.
Men must be indoors by no later than 11 pm. Children must be off the streets by sundown. The town’s propensity for supernatural
phenomenon has forced parents to be exceedingly strict in enforcing this curfew.
- The women in town are not bound by any curfew. No-one seems to
mention this, and most wives and mothers and daughters are inside by 11 anyways.
- Town legend has it that at 11:15 pm, the town is cleansed by riders
on white horses; pale, beautiful women who race through the streets, cleaning it of undesirable elements. This is why there
are no vagrants or transients in Albion, and why no man dares to be caught outside. Few have actually seen this, and there
is no proof of such sweeps beyond the cleanliness of the town and the presence of the strange curfew.
- Black riders are still sighted to this day, though they remain outside the
town, occasionally attacking citizens who tries to leave after nughtfall.
- By far, the majority of townsfolk are under 45 years of age.
- Kings Way Elementary is built on the remnants of the Church of
the Brethren. As such, it is both hallowed and unhallowed. The ghosts of children walk the halls at night, and some of the
children’s imaginary friends are not quite imaginary…
- There is a legend that in the Dead Time, between the destruction
of Albion and its resettling, the town was overrun by demons, spirits and monsters. The Founders, whose names no-one seems
to know, came to the ruins of the town and cleansed it with fire, faith and magic. The descendents of these Founders are bound
to the town, and always return, even if only to die.
- The three most famous children of Albion are:
* August Renard, or DJ Auggie Doggie, a well known DJ whose music
and mixes play regularly on the circuit and at Ibiza.
* Brian DeLong, a liberal political juggernaut who, at the age of
25 has become New Mexico’s youngest District Attorney, the first openly gay District Attorney, and has his sights set
on the US Senate
* Tristin MacMorna, an entertainer born. A platinum-selling musician,
an Oscar-winning actor and – in perhaps his most tabloid
friendly role – the longtime companion of Brian DeLong.
